In September of 2008 the remnants of Hurricane Ike arrived in Northwest Ohio with 70+ MPH wind gusts.
WERT's tower, just 2 months short of it's 50th birthday fell victim to the storm. We like to say "it went up with Ike the president and down with Ike the hurricane." A local tower company had new steel (above left) delivered and erected within 4 days. Meanwhile, WERT didn't miss an hour having switched to a temporary long-wire antenna.
